Giubbotto in ecopelliccia - Faux fur bomber jacket

04 April 2018
Tasche sì o no? Etc.
The spring started, which best moment to come back to write on the blog?
I know: you're already thinking about fluttering dresses for spring and summer. But the winter is still here, so I finished the faux fur bomber jacket I started last autumn.
This project required me a lot of time even if it isn't difficult to make, but I spent too much time to take decisions, even the easiest - which pattern? With pockets or without? - and I don't know why. But now I really love it and I asked myself why I took that long...

I bought this beautiful purple faux fur one year and half ago in the local shop, but the first problem was to find the "perfect" pattern. My idea was to make a bomber jacket, but with and not raglan sleeve. After a long research, I chose again a Burdastyle pattern, the #124 of 09/2013, that I bought here.

  • ho spostato la cerniera al centro;
  • ho eliminato i bordi in maglia, allungato le maniche e sostituiti con bordi in ecopelliccia con l'elastico;
  • ho eliminato anche il collo in maglia e sostituito con un collo in ecopellicia, perfetto per tenere il collo al caldo;
  • ho realizzato delle semplici tasche sul davanti, sulla cucitura a principessa;
But this pattern was only a starting point, beacause I made some alterations that I list below:
  • I moved the zipper on center;
  • I lengthened the bodice about 7 cm - I'm not that young anymore ;)
  • I didn't make hem band, collar and sleeve bands with rib knit, but I made them with faux fur;
  • I added seam pockets;
  • I added lining.

At the end this bomber jacket is a little bit different from the pattern, but this is what I love about sewing: to adapt patterns to your needs and sew the garment in the way you love the most.
